First and foremost, as the author himself states, this book is NOT about Carrie Fisher. It is inspired by Lane's time working as her personal assistant. The story begins with a charming, comical exchange between Charlie and film icon Kathi Kannon, which then devolves into chapters of hilarious situations and a The Office-style exposé on the life of personal assistants at large. Throughout the entire narrative, however, we are treated to the slowly developing friendship that blossoms between the two, transcending mere professional obligations. Charlie, even before securing the job, is obsessed with Kathi, whom he considers one of his idols. This fixation only intensifies, evolving into a protective affection for her. As the story unfolds, the absurd scenarios, outlandish conversations, and spur-of-the-moment events coalesce into a seamless stream, detailing their intertwined lives over the years.
